THE MYSTERY OF MONEY

Money, Ego, Owo, Kudi, pepper, dough, etc has different meanings and interpretations for different people. The thought and mention of it elicits so much emotion in everyone. Some positive others negative. Money answers all things. Money makes the world go round. Life seems so sweet with money and so miserable without it. Some have killed for it, others lived for it. So many people have lost their lives because of it. So many ladies have lost their virtues because of it and some men their values. Money is holding people at ransom. it has stolen the peace and trust in many families.

Money can buy you the finest things in life. With money you can go places. It opens unimaginable doors and shuts others. Money will bring you before kings, queens, nobles and royalties. Money makes life so beautiful. Everyone uses money. We all want it, work for it and think about it. If you don't know what money is, you are not like most humans.

But wait a second….. What is Money? Do we really know and understand what this money is? According to Wikipedia, ‘Money is any object or record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a given socioeconomic context or country. .. Any kind of object or secure verifiable record that fulfills these functions can be considered money.’ The word "money" is believed to originate from a temple of Hera, located on Capitoline, one of Rome's seven hills. In the ancient world Hera was often associated with money. (So money is more of spiritual than physical) The temple of Juno Moneta at Rome was the place where the mint of Ancient Rome was located.[9] The name "Juno" may derive from the Etruscan goddess Uni (which means "the one", "unique", "unit", "union", "united") and "Moneta" either from the Latin word "monere" (remind, warn, or instruct) or the Greek word "moneres" (alone, unique). What are the Functions of money? Money has 3 basic functions viz; of medium of exchange, unit of account, and store of value. For everything we think, do or act about money they all revolve around these three. For more explanation about the functions, please ask Google.

Money in itself is neither good nor bad. It only amplifies the character of the bearer. Give a business man money, he’ll give you business. Give a student money, he’ll give you academic results. Give a drunkard money and the beer parlours will smile to the bank. Give pastor money and the gospel will spread. Give an occult man money and evil will be perpetuated. In conclusion, money should be viewed and seen as objectively as possible. It shouldn't be pursued as a do or die affair and it shouldn't control our lives. Instead let's work on our lives i.e. characters and attitudes and learn how to control money. REMAIN BLESSED AIKAY(2013)
